Stop Husky Digging
Digging is natural husky behavior. Rather than eliminating it, redirect it.
Create a Dig Zone
- Build a sandbox (4x4 feet minimum)
- Bury treats and toys in it
- Praise when they dig there
- Redirect from other areas to the dig zone
Protect Problem Areas
- Place large rocks along fence lines
- Bury chicken wire flat under soil (uncomfortable on paws)
- Use citrus peels ? most dogs dislike the smell
Address Root Causes
- More exercise (tired huskies dig less)
- Shade in summer (they dig for cool ground)
- Mental stimulation (puzzle toys, training)
- Don't leave unsupervised in yard for extended periods
